OF JACK OUTDOORS:
John Lawrence Bauer, III "Jack"
February 20, 1975 - December 21, 2012
At an early age, Jack learned respect for nature and all of its creatures. He seized the privilege of playing in the outdoors, and he also took seriously his responsibility as a caretaker and steward of our precious resources. Jack loved the personal challenge of tackling big whitewater and big mountains; but he also appreciated the beauty in the smallest flower or tiniest fish along the way. Jack was a big joyful soul who seemed to fuel his boundless happiness with nature's beauty and wonder.
Jack's outdoor experiences shaped him as a man, and his defining attributes demonstrated his priorities. Jack was kind. He was happy. He was generous to others. He expressed his love for the people and causes he cared about. He worked hard. He played hard. He always tried to improve himself. He was passionate about learning and enjoying life. He was humbled by and in awe of nature's beauty. He focused on the big picture, but he lived in, and cherished, the present.
Jack had beautiful plans to lead his son, and other kids he loved, on outdoor adventures to spark in them enthusiasm for the outdoor life. Given the opportunity, Jack would have been an incredible leader in that effort. The Fund makes Jack's vision a reality by inspiring passion for the outdoor life in children, and helping them Live Like Jack
